In an article published by the Business Insider, ICCT Associate Fellow Charlie Winter commented on the approach taken by some technology companies to counter extremism. In particular, incubator Jigsaw's development of a Redirect Method allows them to target individuals on a path to extremism with ads that debunk the mythology of ISIS. However, Winter stresses that while the Redirect Method could be effective during earlier stages of radicalisation, it is unlikely to alter the beliefs and commitment of hardcore recruits.
