Renske van der Veer Appointed New Director of ICCT

PRESS RELEASE Renske van der Veer appointed new director of International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) – The Hague The Hague, 30 March 2018 – ICCT is delighted to announce that Renske van der Veer has been appointed as director of the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) - The Hague with effect from 1 April 2018. Renske van der Veer (1980) brings 10 years’ experience in the field of counter-terrorism (CT). She has worked with various government organisations in the CT field across the interface of local, national and international spheres. She has held various positions in executive organisations, as a senior analyst in the field of jihadist terrorism, and various positions in programme and project management. Since 2015 she has served as coordinating senior policy advisor and deputy head of unit in the Counter-Terrorism Department of the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV), part of the Ministry of Justice and Security. As director of ICCT Renske van der Veer will be responsible for the strategic agenda and management. She will be the lead for ICCT in stakeholder relations, monitor research quality and contribute to research and innovation. She will also represent ICCT in the relevant networks. Renske succeeds Dr Alastair Reed, who has served as acting director since 2016. ICCT welcomes Renske and looks forward to further developing ICCT’s mission and strategy with her over the coming years. ICCT wishes to thank Alastair for his dedication to-  and work for ICCT in the past two years. Under his guidance, ICCT has managed to increase the number of quality, in-depth research published on its website and greatly expanded its research network. Alastair managed to attract a number of renowned scholars and experts in the field of CT and CVE and connect them to ongoing projects and the larger research strategy. ICCT looks forward to continue to benefit from his engagement as a Research Fellow.
