Virginie  Andre joined the International Centre for Counter Terrorism in December 2022 as a Senior Research Fellow in Strategic Communications. Virginie has an expertise in terrorism and countering violent extremism, strategic communications, media and terrorism, and ethno-nationalism and conflict transformation. She has a particular interest in disengagement from violent extremism and youth radicalisation.

In the last fifteen years, Virginie has researched diverse communities in Europe, Northern America, Southeast Asia and Australia. She is regularly consulted as an expert by various institutions, notably the EU RAN and the Global Coalition Against Daesh. She also develops and delivers trainings to counter violent extremism to government officials, media practitioners, front line practitioners (including military) and youth. In 2021, she joined the international editorial team of EXIT Germany Journal.  She is an EU RAN Policy Support and Practitioner expert. She is also the co-founder of Finnish NGO youth outreach organisation Kare. Virginie holds a PhD degree from Monash University and a degree in art therapy and life coaching.
