ICCT Director Alexander von Rosenbach presented to approximately 30 counter-terrorism practitioners from across the US government, including the US State Department, Justice, DoD, Treasury, FBI, DHS, NSA, the National Counterterrorism Center, other parts of the intelligence community, as well as CT points of contact from foreign embassies in Washington. The briefing focused on the Dutch approach to CT, discussing the main actors involved, guiding strategies and operational practices. He took a range of questions relating to issues such as the impact of COVID-19 on CT readiness, the potential impact of EU legislation in relation to data privacy and terrorist content online, and the challenges surrounding returning foreign terrorist fighters and their families.
