On 20 December 2016, ICCT Research Fellow Dr. Alex P. Schmid was featured on the WJLA news website. The article "Linking terrorism to immigration after Berlin attack may not align with facts, experts say", explores the often perceived link between migration and terrorism.
Based on his previous ICCT Research Paper Links between Terrorism and Migration: an Exploration, Dr. Schmid argues that although the monitoring of people entering the Schengen zone should be improved, refugees "are unlikely to be interested in attacking the very society that has given them safety and the opportunity for a fresh start".
