On April 16, Spiegel reported that a pro-Iranian group has claimed responsibility for an arson-style attack on an Israeli restaurant in Munich, but German authorities and experts doubt the claim’s credibility. Instead, they suspect the attack may be part of a broader pattern of Iran-linked operations in Europe, possibly carried out by hired criminals to intimidate Jewish and Israeli targets while masking direct state involvement.
The news article featured an interview with Julian Lanchès, ICCT Research Fellow. Lanchès notes: "However, it is possible that HAYI is merely claiming the attack after the fact without actually being responsible for it".
