Recently, Der Spiegel spoke to ICCT research fellow Julian Lanchès about the Schongau school attack in Bavaria, where a 16-year-old is suspected of seriously injuring two 13-year-old girls. Commenting on a manifesto believed to be linked to the attacker - filled with incel and accelerationist language and praise for past mass shooters - Lanchès noted that if authenticated, it would point to the attack emerging from the online "attacker fan scene" and true-crime community, a form of nihilistic violence he warned represents "a new dimension" that security services will need to confront.
