Eszter Szenes joined the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism as a Visiting Fellow under the Current and Emerging Threats Pillar in November 2022. Under her fellowship, she conducted forensic linguistic analyses to identify the linguistic ‘fingerprint’ of ecofascist propaganda.

Dr. Szenes is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Research Fellow at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Central European University, Vienna, Austria and a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Resilience and Security, Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont, USA. She holds a PhD in Systemic Functional Linguistics from the University of Sydney, Australia.

Her research interests include violent extremism, information warfare and critical thinking. Her most recent work investigates the linguistic anatomy of information tactics within disinformation campaigns and the links between climate change and violent extremism.
