Kees joined ICCT as the Current and Emerging Threats intern from January 2023 until July 2023. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from Utrecht University and is currently finishing his Master in Conflict Studies and Human Rights. He is currently writing his thesis on trans-national communication networks used by right-wing extremists.

Before joining the ICCT, Kees was an intern at TerInfo, a research project focussed on making terrorism, political violence and disruptive events more discussable in classrooms. During his studies, Kees gained knowledge on different perspectives that are used to explain violence, international relations and human rights. His main research interests include (online) radicalisation and mobilisation, disinformation and identity fortification processes.
