Nana Phoebe Bjornestad

Nana joined the ICCT in February 2024 as the Communications and Events Intern. She holds a BA from Hofstra University (December 2022), where she majored in Political Science and minored in Economics and European Studies. She is pursuing an M.A. in International Relations at Leiden University, specialising in Conflict in the Modern Era. While completing her studies, she is writing her thesis on the institutional and social obscurities women face during high-level peace negotiations. 

Besides her studies, she is also passionate about global security, including human rights advocacy, specifically on women's and girl's rights, violent extremism, extremism in social media, and gender and extremism. She is also interested in regionalism, peace studies, and history.
