ICCT Associate Fellow in The Boston Globe

On 25 November 2016, ICCT Associate Fellow J. M. Berger was featured in an article by The Boston Globe. The article “Should Twitter ban the alt-right? The case for online censorship” explores the role of social media platforms with regard to free speech and radicalisation. J. M. Berger argues that "social media give extremists some powerful tools for growth: anonymity and an easy way to seek out people with similar interests". Additionally, he comments on the global disruptive force of the so-called Islamic State (IS) and the need for meaningful controls to disrupt the recruitment.
