On 25 January 2017, ICCT Associate Fellows J.M. Berger and Charlie Winter were featured in an article published by The Huffington Post. The article "Trump’s Talk On Terror And Iraq Has Experts Worried About A Coming Backlash" examines the rhetoric of the US President in relation to the current battle against the so-called Islamic State (IS). J.M. Berger argues that the current U.S. approach could 'discourage Muslim-majority countries from being associated with the United States', potentially complicating future collaboration with these allies. Charlie Winter pointed to the fact that IS had previously used the President's image twice in in montages showing Western leaders whom Muslims should oppose.
